I need your help. Okay, it’s more than me. Millions of parents, teachers and children need your help.
As you may be aware, I’m not a big fan of standardized testing and corporatization in our public schools.
As it turns out, I’m not alone in this mess. There is an organization called the Network for Public Education (NPE) that is fighting this as well. NPE has a lot more influence and clout than an attitude-filled Texas mommy blogger.
That’s why I’m asking you to help me and NPE in the quest to get formal congressional hearings to investigate the misuse and abuse of standardized tests. This is a grassroots effort of REAL people who are tired of seeing how this crap hurts our kids. The only thing you need to do is call your state representatives and senators and ask them to help make these hearings a reality.
I’ve been on the phone with staffers from the offices of Texas’ Senator Ted Cruz, Senator John Cornyn, Rep. Sam Johnson and Rep. Michael Burgess.* Cruz’s office was especially receptive. Please take a few minutes out of your day to call or email these folks and ask for their help. You can identify your representatives via the following link: http://www.commoncause.org/siteapps/advocacy/search.aspx?c=dkLNK1MQIwG&b=4860375

It doesn’t matter if you’re a Democrat or Republican. This is NOT a partisan issue. We need support from both sides of the aisle if we hope to change anything for our kids.
Please let NPE know once you’ve made your call. Simply tweet them at @NetworkPublicEd using the hash tag #TESTHearingsNow!
